Beautiful Photographs but a Disappointing Production
I bought this as a gift; when it arrived it was sealed in plastic so I just wrapped it unopened. However, on opening it, it turns out the majority of the photographs - photography being the main point of the book - were cut across two pages. Beautiful photographs ruined by printing them across two pages. It's a big book so you wouldn't be able to flatten the pages very well and would probably break the spine if you tried. But you'd still have a big dip in the middle of the photographs. Why on earth didn't the publishers just create the book in the right size to fit the photographs on one page? Or just print them on one page in the published size - we would rather sacrifice size to see the picture as it was intended by the photographer. Both me and the recipient were so disappointed. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. If I were the photographer, I would be absolutely furious. He deserves better. It's such a shame as the photographs - and narrative - deserve to be seen.

Excellent Album
Actually i watched the documentry in TV and it was quiite an eperience. So i was "hunting" this abum ever since. The photos of Ragnar Axelsson are magnificent, especially the B&W. The descriptions of the people realy drags you there. There is another album from Ragner Axelsson named "Faces of the North" published back in 2004 that i would like to have too.Certaintly i recommend this album.

Stunning photography, magnificent expression of Axelsson's obvious love of the Arctic.
After having recently seen an exhibit of Ragnar Axelsson's photography and a stunning film of his work, his life and his beliefs in Reykjavik , we feel privileged to own this magnificent book. His work is superb and this book highlights his keen eye for depiction not just of what he sees, but his photographic interpretation and expression of his feelings for the people, the simplicity of life and his obvious concern for the changes that are happening in the Arctic.

Gorgeous Photo Book
An absolutely gorgeous book. It is a real Coffee Table book...being both heavy and lavishly produced. The photographs are beautifully reproduced being both large and engaging and RAX's reputation for capturing the dramatic is certainly evident in this book. If you like photography books you will love this book.
