Way better than it should be.
Wow, this works better than expected.I got this to try different setups here. I do have a Behringer UFO202 to adapt my turntable for AirPlay to my HomePods, which does an ok job. However, adding the separate phono amp has made a noticeable improvement, and it sounds much clearer and louder than the built-in amp. There are other options out there, but I’ve come to like and trust the Behringer gear. They give good performance at sensible prices.

Was expecting mediocre, but this was not the case..
After reading both the positive and negative reviews for this product, I was a somewhat cautious and proceeded to order with some trepidation. I had looked at much higher end phono pre-amps which all had pros and cons, especially with hum being a massive negative across the board. So I eventually bit the bullet and plumped for the PP400 as the price was low enough for me to swallow in case it didn’t live up to my expectations. As soon as the product arrived I hooked it up to my Technics SL1200MK2 and bridged it to my Denon M38 DAB, ensuring the 1200’s ground wire was connected. Upon connecting any hum immediately disappeared, I even turned the system up to full volume, tapping the plinth of the deck for some feedback or resonance, only to hear nothing! Suffice to say that my initial concerns were uncalled for and the sound quality was amazing. The line conversion is only a couple of decibels quieter than the CD output on my device, which I’m fine with. Bass and treble is extremely adequate and more than competes with both CD and USB sound sources. Some have said that this device lacks certain dynamics when compared to products 3-4 times more expensive, but my ears say that the PP400 sounds just fine! Of course my opinion is subjective, but I’m sure most will find this a perfectly good product. Only the purist audiophiles will find fault with this because they are listening to their hardware and not the music. Over all I am more than pleased with the PP400 and feel no desire to upgrade it to a more expensive pre amp as I know this does the job extremely well.

Product fine; registration slow and wants too much info
First, in the instructions the input and output impedance is given in Watts - eh? As far as I know, impedance around the world is measured in Ohms. This is a tad worrying, but everything else has the correct units, so maybe it's just a printing error.More serious, is the lengthy and demanding registration process, which won't let you change your email preferences once you've (finally) registered - plus the site is rather slow. Maybe its because I use an ad blocker on my browser... Anyway, I gave up and deleted my just-created account. Call me cautious...However, the product itself is fine. It sounds fine and was no trouble to setup/install. Oh, and thanks to Amazon for dropping the price a day or so after I ordered...

Good price and it did the job
The brand is well known in the industry and was recommended to me. It enables me to play vinyl through my Sonos port. It increases the volume sufficiently for me but certainly doesn’t compare to my hifi amp. I believe the issue is Sonos so won’t criticise the product. I’m glad I didn’t pay more as it would not have made any difference.

Nice sound at a nice price - can't fault it
Was a toss up between the Behringer and the Pro-ject phono box but at half the price I thought "can't be half as bad, surely". And I was right, the sound quality is very good. It's also plug and play simple and connects my turntable (that has no built in stage) to my PC and then back to my amp.It works, it works well and it's reasonably priced. Now I look at £200 phono amps and think "really!?", the audiophile crowd might just be being played...

Does the job, nicely. Compact and robust!
This item was packaged well, it's very robust and not flimsy at all.Being somewhat of an audiophile, I was concerned about humming or buzzing coming through to my stereo, especially from this item's price-point - but actually, once I attached the earthing wire from my turntable (which I kind of expected to do, so won't mark it down for that) there has been no disturbance. All inputs/connections are sturdy and there are no wobbly or loose components. Also, a big plus is its size - for something I will rarely fiddle with and will most likely be hidden out of view it's great and compact - not intrusive at all. This is being used with a Pro-Ject Essentials II turntable and an old Sony LBT-V202 separates stack. I used up all of the phono connections with other kit, so needed to run my turntable through the AUX and this little box has done just that!Recommend if you need a simply, compact pre-amp - just bear in mind whether your turntable has an earthing wire as it might produce some low hum/interference.
