Thank you!Explanation: I had ordered a French film dvd from Amazon with English subtitles.It had "2 PAL" with a global icon on it, indicating that the dvd is coded for Region 2 and uses the PAL video standard.This means its designed for playback in Europe and many other countries.So when I put the French film in my old dvd player, it wouldn't play.I went to Amazon and noticed this Philips HDMI 1080p upconvert DVD player which would solve my problem at a reasonable price.Yes it did do that!On the outside of the box it said "attention: look for easy guide to region free" instructions inside.I have attached a photo.I followed this guide exactly and I was able to watch the French film on my television. For someone who is looking for just a simple DVD, like I was, it is definitely the one for you. It is a definite work horse and does what is meant to do….play dvds. The design is simple and not space consuming. It’s not wireless or modern technology, which is great for this who want to hang on to their old tv’s or don’t trust alien technology like blue ray or ultra 4k. On a side note the seller is really nice, I gotta nice letter reminding me to give them a review.

If you’re looking for it a DVD player this one definitely does the work and it’s small so it saves a lot of space. I was very happy with this purchase still works very well after six months being used. I was skeptical at first because of the prize being so low, but it definitely shows that it could cost a little bit more. I will definitely buy again.

Packaging was good, came with easy to follow step by step instructions for set up, works as promised! Ordered a favorite TV series of ours not knowing it was formated for a different region, and we were not able to find it for our region so we found this Philips multi-region dvd player and decided to give it a try, and now I can watch my favorite show! This item is name brand, Philips. It plays ALL region dvd's. It features HDMI and RCA jacks for those with slightly older tv's or older electronic equipment. It also features USB. All of this is big because most DVD players on the market today do not feature all of these things, and remember, this is a Philips product.
