ABC Company 1434972 2-Shelf Storage, 48" x 13" x 26-7/8", Natural Wood Tone

This is a very nice quality shelf. I purchased three of them to use in a preschool classroom, and they are the perfect height for my 3-4 year olds to access independently. The wood appears to be high quality and heavy (I'm sure my UPS driver was less then pleased to tote these up to my front step). All of the corners are smoothed and rounded. My 9 year old even commented on how "soft" they were when he helped me set it up. The coating on the boards appears to be very washable (I don't know I haven't tested it yet). But, it appears to have the same varnish as the ones you typically see in preschool classrooms.Speaking of assembly: I put the first one together by myself with a hand held screwdriver. It took about an hour and caused me more frustration then should be necessary for a 2 shelf bookcase. Not to mention my hands were red and aching by the end of it. Needless to say, I enlisted some help for the next two. With two people and an electric screwdriver we were able to assemble the other two in about half an hour.Note on assembly, the groves for the back piece do not line up particularly well. The instructions have you slide in the back boards (two nice thinner pieces of wood, not cheap cardboard like most bookcases) with the shelf laying down. It took a lot of wiggling and screwing/unscrewing to make the joints line up so the back pieces would slide in. We found it easier to first screw the top/middle/bottom shelves onto one side. Turn and lift up the bookcase so the side piece you just screwed is flat on the ground. Then slide in your backboards and use your feet to jimmy them into the slot. Then screw on the other side board before laying the bookcase into position.Overall a very high quality shelf. A less expensive alternative to the expensive shelves advertised for classrooms.

This was easy to put together...if you don't tighten the screws fully right away. It is heavy, durable board construction. Not like the cheap ones I got at a local big box store. My son loves to look at his books even more now that we bought this. Much better than having books in boxes. He's only eighteen months but he can put books on top. No worry it will fall on him. Yet he'll be using this furniture for a long time. There is nothing about it that is exclusively childlike. Even more happy with the purchase than I expected to be.

I ordered 2 of these for my classroom with my own money. Both of them came with multiple chunks out of most of the wooden pieces. They also both came without instructions or screws to put it together. I cannot find instructions through googling. At this point, the pieces are taking up space in my classroom, but with my busy schedule, it's too much of a hassle for me to lug around 100 lbs worth of pieces, get 2 new giant boxes, and mail them back. Very disappointed.

This purchase was incredibly disappointing. It arrived with several of the pieces having large chunks taken out of them and the composite material flaking off like paper. This is described as wood, but it is not. The laminate covering is also poor. It has worn off on all the edges from rubbing against the other pieces. I will send it back.

This is perfect fit under windows in my office and it was so easy to put together, I did it myself and I'm 72 years old! It looks just like the picture -- not cheap looking at all, but of course it is not fine furniture - just storage for an office or children's room.

I purchased 6 of these shelves. Upon moving these across the floor many of them had the feet rip out of the underside. After 9 months one of the top shelves suddenly ripped apart- the wood over the top of one of the screws causing the items on top to spill onto the classroom floor. Dangerous!

I only wish I had another, great it holds lots of toys, stury in the way it stands. and pracitcal.

The price was great for this product. Will definitely order from this distributor again for all of my daycare centers.
