DakineSplit Roller

In a past life I was a bag designer and product manager for a fairly well known line, so I'm pretty picky. This is my first DAKINE bag and it exceeds all expectations. Great layout of pockets and compartments, excellent materials, outstanding sewing. Currently traveling with the bag and it's a pleasure to move through airports and train stations with. A great value as it feels like a more expensive bag. Would absolutely recommend, and plan to buy the carry-on size when I return home.

It looks good, it's organizationally super functional, and it's easy to carry and roll for luggage of its size.

Held up the first trip no issues at all, I bought the 85 L it is awesome for packing. It keeps everything organized easily. Stitch work looks great every handle feels tight and right. Also a stable bag when upright, in other words it can stand up by itself fully loaded. The thing maneuvers well. I will update if any issues arise, but I am impressed with Dakine.

I had a more expensive name brand bag in this format that wore out, and I was a little reluctant to buy a less expensive alternative, but the bag serves me well. What I really like is the size. It's a little taller and narrower than other bags, which makes it easier to maneuver through airports. The split sides allow you to pack a lot of gear. I use packing cubes, and the combination of cubes and this bag is like having a portable dresser along for the trip. I haven't yet had time to travel with it extensively, but so far it appears to be sturdy, and the zippers appear strong enough.

The bag is a good size for a week long trip. Definitely not carry on size. I love the two compartments makes it easy to keep folded clothes neat but still have the capacity of a duffle. The wheels roll smoothly and the handle seems pretty sturdy. Have only done one trip so I can’t speak to the durability yet.

I was very excited to buy this bag. Overall Awesome design and exactly what I needed. Even though very pricey. However after just one trip the material is already starting to rip. The internal support structure rubs against the polyester. If they had put a rubber patch on those corners like they did on the top corners this problem would be solved. It is now also too late for me to return or exchange the bag. I’ve also contacted the company directly two times and they have not replied. Great idea. But this bag will not last very long at all. Definitely not “battle tested” as advertised.

I have had this brand before and used it for 10 years.......handles 2 weeks worth of trip needs in a light setup easy to move with.
