This product works. Having been sprayed with pepper spray before in training, I wanted to test the 3 in 1 that blends CS tear gas and pepper spray with UV Dye that I carry. I sprayed a short burst in our garage and in seconds, the vapors ran me out of the garage choking and sneezing with a burning sensation in my throat and nose. I sprayed a couple of bursts onto my finger and rubbed it around my eyelid and the corner of my eye. I instantly regretted this test. Simultaneously my eye slammed shut tightly and everywhere where the spray made contact felt like it was on fire. The pain made me short of breath, sort of panic for a second and it also made my eyes tear. No matter how hard I tried, I could not open my eye. When I tried to peel my eye open, the pain was 10 times worse. This went on for about 20 minutes and this was just from the residue and not actually getting it sprayed in my face. Years ago a coworker who carry’s the Sabre 3 in 1 on his keys, sprayed a buddy who is a correctional officer. The correctional officer didn’t believe it would be as effective as the larger can of police issued Sabre Red he carries at work. The effects of this application went on for about 30 minutes with some of the secondary effects lasted long after. Few tips regarding defense sprays:1. Keep this spray accessible! Don’t let it get buried in a pocket, bag or left behind. I Ike this keychain model because every time I grab my key fob to leave the house, it is with me and in my hand when out and about. It won’t do you any good in the bottom of a bag. Carry it in your hand with the safety unlocked and with your thumb on the trigger ready to spray when walking alone, in parking lots or any potentially dangerous situation. Situational awareness is your best defense.2. This is a twist lock safety cap. The twist lock blocks the spray nozzle, but when moved counter clockwise at a 45 degree angle, the nozzle is exposed. The instructions clearly say to “press down on the center of the actuator button where it says “press”. It is designed this way so that it takes a purposeful push to discharge the canister so it doesn’t accidentally spray. I’ve watched videos where people were lightly tapping the back of the button and couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t spray. This is not hairspray. Put your thumb in the center of the button and push down on the button.3. This is a combination of OC Spray and CS Military Tear Gas plus UV Marking Dye. The pepper forces the eyes to shut and swells the mucous membranes. The CS Tear Gas magnifies the burning sensation and spreads around the eye area. When I tested it on just one eye, my other eye also began to burn and tear. It is classified as a Level III spray that causes maximum effects on the visual and respiratory systems. I feel that the combination of pepper and tear gas burns faster and more intensely than pepper alone. It is often described as a synergistic effect.4. Sabre sells inert practice canisters filled with water that spray identical to the live canisters. These cost a few bucks and are an important training aid. Practice spraying a static target, then enlist the help of a buddy wearing eye protection, and practice spraying the mock attacker with the inert spray while stepping to the side and escaping. You don’t just stand there when deploying self defense spray. You should spray and move.5. Don’t carry off brand sprays that omit quality control testing. The reason Sabre has a reputation for effectiveness and reliability is because they are ISO certified, EPA certified and SEI certified. They check every canister for leakage, performance, pressure variance, quality of materials and test fire every canister before it is shipped. They also test every batch produced in an in house lab for consistent potency. Off brand sprays cost less and are less reliable because they omit some or all of those tests.6. I also recommend you keep a larger canister (called Sabre 120 Magnum) by your bedside and front door. These larger canisters contain enough spray to handle a mob and spray in a wider blast for multiple intruders.

I bought the SABRE Defense Spray primarily for peace of mind during my delivery job, especially to feel prepared in case of a dog attack. The price is reasonable, and it’s comforting to have something reliable in hand if the need arises.I haven’t tested or used it yet, so I can’t comment on the performance or quality firsthand. However, knowing this is a brand trusted by police gives me confidence that it should be effective when needed. A must-have for anyone who prioritizes safety on the go.

Great overall (although I haven't tested it on anybody) it fits in my hand well, great size for my wife too. Good deal on price, 2 for $10, usually it's double that. Seems very durable tooThe only weird thing, which might just be me, is the quick release clip. I thought it would've been like those special cat collars that break away when there is too much tension, much like if it is attached to your purse or keys and someone is trying to take those, you'll be able to pull away while holding the spray and still be in control of it. Instead, you have to push the "USA" button to release. It's not that easy to press, so I'm not too sure about it's utility. That's why mine is a 4 star

Lock feature s loose, but nothin concerning, lightweight, I plan to not have to use it, it gives me some security for when I’m alone and potentially in a not great area.

Sabre Red 3 in 1 here is THE most potent self defense spray legally allowed in the USA right now, and out of everything I carry out there, this is my #1 "go to" self defense. I wear both this and my 130 decibel personal alarm quite prominently so everyone can see it and that alone generally does the trick. This is "quick release" so if I'm vibing a testy situation I get it in my hand trigger finger ready and I've never had someone doubt that I meant business and do anything stupid. The next thing I'm going to do is turn body cameras into hip fashion accessories! This is one reason that violent crime rates keep going lower! Do your part and buy one for your bestie too!
