No it is not magnetic. I'm wondering why you would want that? It connects by fitting the last ball in the chain into the little connector and then you just give it a squeeze with some pliers to close the opening slightly.

Is it easy to connect

I didn't do it but my husband said it was easy to connect. We used it to add length to the plastic beaded pull that was provided with our Westinghouse fan/light. We removed most of the plastic as it wasn't very attractive and replaced it with the beaded pull chain using the connectors to join both ends together.
