Easy replacement to save you hundreds. I ruined mine by grinding frozen meet. The safety feature ruined this nylon washer. After years of sitting I decided to try replacing it. It was much easier than I anticipated.Found a video on YouTube with easy to follow instructions. Required a punch set and screw driver.

The gear that came with the kit fit and worked well for my wife's Kitchenaid mixer. When i got it, i thought it wasn't going to last and i was prepared for failure with the way she uses her mixer. I'm pleased to report it worked well and still working. Very satisfied. I did make sure to clean everything and re-grease the gears with proper food grade grease. The mixer has been a great kitchen tool for the last 15 years, and I'm hoping I get that and more again. FYI - There are so many gears to sort through when trying to find one that works and lasts and I'm certain some of them are junk or cheap knock off's. But this worked fine and would order it again.

Be warned, though, this job can get pretty messy due to the large amount of food-grade grease in the gearbox. If I had to do it again, I’d definitely wear plastic gloves from the start.I had to start the repair twice. The first time, I realized I needed a square-point driver bit that I didn’t have. Once I picked up the right bit kit, though, the repair only took about 30 minutes. Overall, I feel like I saved at least $50, maybe even up to $100, compared to what it would’ve cost to take it to a repair shop.Now, my trusty KitchenAid mixer is back in action, churning out cakes, cookies, pizza dough, and homemade buns with no issues at all. It’s like having a brand-new mixer again, and I’m thrilled with the results. If you’re comfortable with a bit of DIY and don’t mind getting your hands a little greasy, I highly recommend giving this repair a try before spending money on professional help.
