didn't get to use it. hope i never will, so I can only comment on the package, which is pretty good. i keep one of them in my are at all times. i think if your financial allows, buy a new pack every other year

This works, but for the inexperienced persons like me, that don’t research, this will not deter bears. Just a tool to make noise and let those nearby aware that you are there. Buy the bear spray.

Oh I don't know if this scares bears but it's loud
Children have a way of wanting to press everything, so while I did not press this in the vicinity of a bear, my kid pressed this horn in the woods and it's very loud! Just as the title says, 120dB is jolting!

Unless it's complete silent in the area, you can't hear this horn up to a quarter mile away.
