GarnierColor Sensation Hair Color Cream, 5.21 Grape Expectations (Intense Purple)

Full marks to this lesser-used drugstore brand hair dye. It has achieved more for me than the professional dyes, delivering a shade I hadn’t managed to mix either at home or using a salon colorist.First the good stuff:PROS:- it really does comes out the color you see on the box. That alone is worthy of note.- No transference to pillowcases, towels, or clothes. That one is huge and I buried the lede there.- It fades uniformly and maintains a proportionate pink undertone.CONS:- It fades quite a bit. Granted, all red tones famously tend to do that, and the fading is gradual and not particularly noticeable week to week, but it does fade from a sunset pink to a peach blush. Ideal for me as I was actually searching for a pinkish apricot shade.Photos show the color both newly dye and after 6 weeks of product and heat styling.

The coloring is called Grape Expectations. I really like purple and I like how it makes my hair look.+

I couldn't find these in the store and while I didn't want 3, this was the best deal I found. I had my hair bleached, but I either did not leave on long enough - it was closer to 30 minutes - or my hair was too dark for it to take hold. It was a nice color, but it faded/washed out really fast. I'm used to dying it red or black and these colors tend to fade really quick. I'd like to try their other colors if I could find them local.

I bought this to refresh my already purple hair and it completely stripped my hair. There is a diagram on the box of what it will look like on processed hair but that can't be accurate. I have never in my ten plus years of coloring my own hair had this happen. It completely stripped out the purple and neutralized my hair so it not only was a waste of time but of money. I had to go get a different purple and spend another hour dying my hair but as it neutralized my hair my purple isn't as vibrant. It is going to take multiple refreshing to get my purple back so in the end this product cost me far more than $4. Now, I realize it is partially my fault for buying cheap dye but this box also has false advertising. I do take partial responsibility but it should also be advertised as having some kind of lightener in it. I got a no bleach needed kit for a reason. Again, do nor use on processed hair.

Love this color. So disappointed it has been discontinued. I refuse to buy the last few boxes at 3x the price. Searching for a replacement.

My new ROOT KITS!! I have very long, thick, naturally curly hair. The root kits in the stores cost almost as much as a full box of hair color, and you don't get enough for blanket-like hair like mine. This was a WONDERFUL FIND! It's slightly less than full sized hair color, but not by much. So if your hair is shoulder length or shorter, this would be perfect for you. For me, it affords plenty of root coverage, as well as covering the "under lengths" that go gray at the same time. I was able to get a four pack of this for less than the cost of one box of hair color with Amazon's "add on program". (I am kicking MYSELF for not buying two!!)The coverage is great, and it knocks those Gray hairs out really well, and with natural results. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Did not turn hair pink, turned it brassy. It says it won't color medium or darker brown hair, but it does, it bleaches it brassy. As far as hair that is already blonde, it does not turn it pink, it actually darkens it and turns it disgusting orangish brass, no pink at all in my hair. I had blonde streaks in medium brown hair, figured it would turn the blonde streaks pink, but it really is just a bleaching set, a very bad one. There is absolutely no way this would ever in a million years make anyone's hair the color on the box.
